Medics Drinks 2015
On Thursday, 14 May 2015, as part of the OE Careers Network, the Development & OEA Office hosted a drinks reception for Old Edwardians and parents involved in the medical profession and current pupils.
This event provided OEs and parents the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience with current pupils interested in pursuing a similar career. This year's guest speaker was Professor Mary Jane Platt, Director of Admissions and Teaching at Norwich Medical School.
Professor Mary Jane Platt graduated from the University of London in 1982. She completed her training in primary care and worked in child development before moving into public health. Following an MPH from Johns Hopkins University (1989), she completed her public health training in Merseyside and Cheshire (1993) and the University of Liverpool, where she gained her doctorate. She worked at the University of Liverpool for 18 years before moving to Norwich Medical School in 2010. Her research interests are in perinatal and paediatric epidemiology with which she is still involved, but since 2005 has focused her attention on medical education, initially at the University of Liverpool and more recently at Norwich Medical School.
